I think sister Isatou Jallow's comment on abusive relationships is a silent reminder to all the brothers on the G-L including me to help our sisters, aunts, mothers and wives especially as we really should- morally ,financially and spiritually . With Ramadan starting on this Saturday and with all the problems facing muslims and immigrants here in the USA following the tragic Sept 11 this is a time to be together and help our women in all aspects of life from guidance to collective prayers . Contact your female family members ( sisters, friends, moms, aunts grandmas, step moms etc) ,see how they are doing and even if you cannot assist financially do so morally. The new Immigration laws are so blatantly racist under the disguise of anti- terrorism act that we must look out for each other now more than ever. No one is really safe now - you can be picked up and locked up for seven days without charges. I suggest frequent get togethers
Let us not have the collective failure syndrom like the misguided brothers of the Taliban who are under the disguise of Islam and misinterpretation of the holy Quran while abusing their women daily in Afghanistan and we as muslims worldwide stood by until America took the opportunity to do the job we were supposed to do in the first place. Their end is eminent and we pray that Allah have mercy on the ones that were killed and change the remaining ones to be better and true muslim brothers. Let us learn form that lesson.
With that I say " Yall nang fekkeh dewan and ballal len ma Aha". " Yal nang Barkel Lailat tu Khadr" and pray for all of us to see the end of this recent nightmare.
If I have offended any one it is not intentional and seek forgiveness from Allah.
Brothers, Let us dedicate this Ramadan to our sisters and children bin kulli makan.
On a fasting note, To the Jobes and Sarrs in the US ,do not be afraid this Ramadan will be easy again - the days are short.( laugh)
Wasalaam
