Abu Huraira(RA)reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying that: Allah the Exalted and Glorious, said: I have prepared for My pious servants which no eye has ever seen, and no ear has ever heard, and no human heart has ever perceived but it is testified by the Book of Allah. He then recited:" No soul knows what comfort has been concealed from them, as a reward for what they did".(Surah Sajda(32):17)

FROM THE MIMBAR OF HOLY HARAM IN MAKKAH AND MADINA
(Friday, November 9, 2001)
MONOTHEISM FORMS THE BASIS OF SAUDI ARABIA;
RAMADAN IS MONTH OF MERCY AND BLESSINGS.
IN MAKKAH
His Eminence Sheikh Dr Saleh Bin Abdullah Bin Humeid, Imam and Khateeb of the Holy Mosque in Makkah called upon Muslims to fear Allah and strive to gain His favor by good deeds and refraining from sedition and conflicts.
He said that Islam is God’s religion that was revealed to the seal of His prophets, Prophet Mohammed (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam). And the last of the Books is the Holy Qur’an, which has been protected from any alteration or changes. He said that Islam is the religion that Allah has consented to for all the people at all times and places.
In his Friday Sermon this week (November 9, 2001) in the Holy Mosque, Dr Bin Humeid said that during every period of time in existence Allah sends a person who revives the religion. Such persons put the Ummah in the right track (followed by previous generations). They try to reform their close and distant surroundings including themselves and their disciples and followers. He pointed out that among the most prominent and successful reformers was the late Sheikh Al-Islam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahab(the founder of Wahhabism). He was one of the leading religious scholars (Imams) of Islam. He was well versed in religion. He understood the Shariah very well on the basis of creed (Aqeedah) and monotheism (Tawheed).
Sheikh Bin Humeid said that the two leading religious scholars, the late Sheikh Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahab and Sheikh Muhammad Bin Saud (may Allah bestow His mercy on them) agreed between them to begin religious reform and the phases of the historic movement began and it is still continuing strongly without faltering. Hence, the course of reform became straight so that Allah’s religion dominates on the basis of Tawheed, religious knowledge and the state.
He explained that faith in religion is a general attribute of the society as manifested in adherence to the religious obligations and rites. Part of these manifestations are good knowledge of the religions, love for the righteous people, eagerness to acquire knowledge of the religions including the Shariah, deliberate effort in understanding the rules of religion, and modesty in every aspect of life.
Sheikh Bin Humeid said that the approach and methods of the forefathers have remained the basis of existence of Saudi Arabia in the past, present and will be so in the future.
He said that Saudi Arabia is a state that considered it as its responsibility to defend Islam at national and international levels. It has been explaining Islamic system at international forums with a view to serve the Muslims, defending their rights, assisting them as much, as possible and providing them with relief aids. Furthermore, it supported the efforts of the call (Da’wa) to Allah within the country and abroad financially and morally. The state cooperated with the countries of the world to achieve the principles of justice and provide all that is good for Islam and Muslims.
Sheikh Bin Humeid confirmed that the Kingdom is the source of the message and the cradle of revelation. It has the Two Holy Mosques and the Muslims’ holy sites and is their protector. The Kingdom does not accept compromise on its religion, the nation (Ummah) and the homeland whatever be the pressures, however critical the crises and however aggravated the sedition and conflicts become. He further said that its strength in the right path, the clarity of its objective, its belief in the cause of righteousness and its firm stand on this cause have been seen in some quarters as antagonism which has angered some foreign mass media to the extent that they have launched their attacks against Islam and Muslims in general and this country in particular.
MADINA
Meanwhile,His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Bari Al-Thubeiti, Imam and Khateeb of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madina advised Muslims to fear Allah.
In the Friday Sermon in the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Al-Thubeiti said that supplication (Dua) is one of the attributes of humble veneration and worship of Allah in order to seek to gain His favor in this world and the Hereafter. He said that Allah likes that His servants should ask Him for all their needs. He added that supplication to Allah is one of the characteristics of the prophets.
He further said that Dua is not restricted by time or place. Supplication wards off evil, disasters and tribulations. Also, it prevents punishment and suffering. A Muslim must supplicate day and night. He said that the Prophet (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) advised the Ummah to supplicate frequently.
Sheikh Al-Thubeiti urged Muslims to do a lot of supplication during the month of Ramadan because it is an exalted sublime month during which the Holy Qur’an was revealed. It is the duty of every Muslim to avoid committing sins during the month of Ramadan because it is one of the best months in the sight of Almighty Allah and it is He who rewards for it.
Sheikh Al-Thubeiti called upon Muslims to devote their time in Ramadan to doing good deeds, like intercommunicating with their brethren, being kind, merciful, and loving to them, avoiding enmity and rancor among themselves. He prayed to Allah to bestow His blessings on the Muslims in this auspicious month of Ramadan.
The Holy Quran :Allah, the Exalted and Merciful has said:
183. O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,-
184. (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.
185. Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful.
187. Permitted to you, on the night of the fasts, is the approach to your wives. They are your garments and ye are their garments. Allah knoweth what ye used to do secretly among yourselves; but He turned to you and forgave you; so now associate with them, and seek what Allah Hath ordained for you, and eat and drink, until the white thread of dawn appear to you distinct from its black thread; then complete your fast Till the night appears; but do not associate with your wives while ye are in retreat in the mosques. Those are Limits (set by) Allah. Approach not nigh thereto. Thus doth Allah make clear His Signs to men: that they may learn self-restraint(Surah Al-Baqara 183,184,185 and 187)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah(R.A.)says that the Holy prophet (S.A.W.)said:Allah, the Almighty and Master of Honour says:all other actions of a person are for himself, except the case of his fasting which is exclusively for Me and I shall pay(recompense) for him for the same. The fast is a shield(against vice and the fire of Hell). Therefore when anyone of you is fasting he should abstain from loose talk and avoid verbosity and noisy exchange of words. If somebody starts abusing him or picks up a quarrel with him,he should tell him/her that 'I am observing a fast.' By Allah in whose hands is the life of Muhammed(S.A.W),the breath of the mouth of one who is fasting is more pleasant in the sight of Allah than the Fragrance of musk.A fasting person gets two kinds of pleasure:firstly he feels pleasure when he breaks his fast, and secondly he will be joyful by virtue of his fast, when he meets his Sustainer.(Bukhari and Muslim).
Imam Muslims's version says: A man's good acts are recompensed many times, from ten times to seven hundred times.Allah the Exalted says:But a fast is an exception because it is undertaken simply for My sake,(i.e. there is no limit for its recompenses)I, Alone, shall bestow the reward for it.(The person who observes a fast), gives up his food, drink and sensual desires for My sake. For a fasting person there are two pleasures; firstly a joy when he breaks his fast and secondly another joy when he meets his lord. his breath is more pleasant in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk.
Hazrat Sahl bin Sa'd (R.A.)says that the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.)said:There is a gate in Paradise known as 'Ar-Raiyan' through which only fasting persons will enter on the Day of Judgement, and no one else.It will be said:where are the fasting persons? They will come forward. No one will enter it except them. After they shall have entered, the gate will be closed and no one else will enter thereafter.(Bukhari and Muslim).
Hazrat Abu Sa'eed khudri(RA)reports that the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.)said; When a person fast for a day,for the sake of Allah, then Allah drives away the Hell from him to a distance of seventy years of travelling.(Bukhari and Muslim).
Hazrat Abu Hurairah(RA)says that the Holy Prophet(S.A.W.)said: a person who fast during the month of Ramadan with faith, and self scrutiny, will have his past sins remitted.(Bukhari and Muslim)
Hazrat Abu Hrrairah(RA)relates that the Holy Prophet(S.A.W)said:When the month of Ramadhan arrives the gates of Paradise are opened, and those of Hell are closed, and the Satans are imprisoned.(Bukhari and Muslim).
Hazrat Abu Hurairah(RA)says that the Holy prophet(SAW)said:Start fasting on seeing the new moon and stop fasting also on observing the same.If you are unable to spot it due to the sky being cloudy then treat the month of Shaban as of 30 days.(Bukhari and muslim).
Another version of Imam Muslim adds:Similarly,if the new moon is invisible(due to clouds)at the end of Ramadhan, then fast for 30 days.
What to supplicate on sighting the New moon.Hazrat Talha nib 'Ubaidullah(RA)says that on sighting a new moon, the Holy Prophet(SAW) used to pray thus:
Allahuma Ahillahu'Alaina Bil Am'ne wal Imane Was-salam 'e Wal Islam Rabbi wa Rabbukallah. Hilal-orush'din wa khairin.
O Allah,do let the appearance of this moon be a forerunner of peace, faith, safety and Islam for us.O moon, mine and your lord is Allah.May this be a moon of (right) guidance and virtue.
Niyyah(Intention to keep fast)" I resolve to keep fast tomorrow in the month of Ramadan."
Prayer to end fast:" O Allah,I have fasted for thee, have believed in thee, have relied in thee and have broken fast by thy provision so accept it from me."
Allah the Exalted, Master of Honour and the Merciful said:
Lo! those who believe and do good works, their lord guideth them by their faith.Rivers will flow beneath them in the Gardens of Delight.Their Prayer therein will be:Glory be to thee O Allah! and their greetings therein will be,Peace. And the conclusion of the prayer will be,Praise be to Allah, lord of the Worlds!(surah 10:10-11).
O Allah!Thou art the Author of Peace. And from Thee comes peace. And peace returns towards Thee.Keep us alive with peace, and let us enter the House of peace.O Allah make this Land peaceful and Dar al-Islam.Blessed and Exalted art Thou.O lord of Glory and Honour!O our lord! Hear us and grant us pardon. To Thee is our return.
All praise is for Allah, who has guided us;and we would not have been properly guided, had Allah not guided us.O Allah send salat(blessings)Upon Our chief Muhammed and upon his family and the followers as you sent salat(blessings)Upon Ibrahim(Prophet Abraham)and his family and followers. And indeed You are the Praised and the Respected.Al-Fatiha.
Ameen.
