M.B, The only step that might help at this stage is the annulment and voiding of all the issued " late registration " birth certificates in the CBs, PBs and also make a total control on the BOGs ( born outside the Gambia ), to make sure their parents are Gambians. All ID cards, Voters cards and Passports of late registration of birth holders from a certain period should be annulled and properly controlled, before issuing new documents to them.. I know this process cannot be implemented at this stage, because of the coming elections. The game has already began and it must end, before other plans can start. This process will take time and you need real planning and financing to implement it. Another step, which could have helped solve the problem easily is to put the issuing of all these documents under one department to handle them. If a certain department handle them, it would be easy to decentralize their offices all over the country to save people from the provinces a long journey to Banjul. Each office can get a supervising staff. This is just a thought. What do you think? Elhajj.
