The treason trial of Lt Lalo Jaiteh and Momodou Dumo Saho and five others has been adjourned without any date fixed due to the absence of the judge, Justice Wallance Grant of the high court.

All the accused persons including Lt Jaiteh and Momodou Dumo Saho and the five others, namely: Lt Omar A Darboe, Ebrima Yarbo, Momodou Marena, Abdoulie Sanyang and Ebrima Barrow were present in court.

The accused persons were charged on four counts of treason, contrary to section 35(1) of the criminal code.

During earlier hearing on October 3, 2001, the accused persons took their plea before the court.

The defence counsels, led by Lawyer Ousman Sillah, argued that the defence team needed time to discuss with the accused persons before taking their plea. Moreover, the seventh accused person, Abdoulie Sanyang was not present in court and as a result, his plea was not taken.
