Pa Samba and Yus,
If Gambia can lobby a foreign coach through technical assistance or even if
budget permits, it can only be good for the national sport. The local
coaches have managed three Zone 2 finals since Box bar days. We have not
qualified for any major football tourney and players leave in their drove
for the West. How long more do we have to wait for someone to deliver?
A good foreign coach would improve technique, which is lacking and the
reason we dominate matches and fail to win. Discipline will be better
instilled and good chances of flogging players abroad owing to wider
contacts.
Nigeria, our cousins Senegal and a host of other African countries had done
so to their betterment. The Sereign Sahou/Oberman partnership was an
exciting experience which immediately paved way for trial matches.
