The Point Banjul December 3rd Hallo? The Opposition … Hallo? This is our message As the APRC is grappling with the identification of candidates for the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the opposition is sleeping. One of the problems, that beset the opposition in the last presidential election, is the lack of organisational capacity in and around the country. It would seem that, the same problem is looming ahead. The opposition is once again waiting for the 11th hour to make its presence felt. The opposition is hampered by the non-existence of grassroot structures at the divisional and constituency levels, a problem it shares with the ruling party. All said and done, the ruling party enjoys an edge as Commissioners who are supposed to represent the Executive get involved in the ruling party’s business as seen in the Jangjanbureh and Foni selections. This, notwithstanding, the opposition should have by now made its mark to show Gambians that it is ready for the parliamentary as it had lost the presidential election. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>> To view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>
