UDP led coalition supporters react to boycott As the UDP led coalition announced its boycott of the upcoming National Assembly elections, some party supporters have threatened to join the ruling APRC if the decision is not rescinded. A group of party supporters who spoke to the Daily Observer on condition of anonymity, said they were disappointed when they heard the news that the party decided to pull out of the race slated for January 17 2002. They spoke of their readiness to support and rally behind the APRC and President Jammeh for the rebuilding of the nation. One Mr Ceesay who spoke on behalf of the angry supporters, said the party should have consulted the supporters before taking a decision like that, “because we are fully prepared for the forthcoming National Assembly elections.” “So why should the party boycott the elections like that? The party has no respect for us, that was why they have taken such a bad move which we are not in line with,” he charged. Mr Ceesay vowed that he and the rest will support the APRC to the end. Most speakers accused the leadership of betrayal and disappointment. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>> To view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>
