LA: HUMAN RIGHTS DEMO ____________________________________________________________________ Monday, December 10, 2001, Anti-Racist Action is sponsoring a demonstration against anti-immigrant racism and repression in the current war. We are standing up against the disappearance-style detentions of over 1200, the racial-profiling interrogations, the USA PATRIOT act, whose repressive measures against immigrants have no sunset provision and will remain in effect after other parts of the law expire in five years. This rally marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and is part of coordinated protests across the US and Canada called by the Anti-Racist Action network. Similar repressive measures and racist attacks against immigrants have been taking place in both countries, including repressive legislation in Canada and President Bush's executive order creating military tribunals independent of judicial oversight for non-US nationals. We call on all people of good will to stand up and be counted against these human rights violations. We will refuse to be cowed into silence by repression and intimidation.
