Game over. Senegal won by 1 goal to 0. Overall, a very shaky game by Senegal and believe me folks, they have a mountain to climb before they face France in the World Cup opener. The Egyptians threatened extremely dangerously on numerous occasions but the Senegalese D marshaled by Cisse & Diatta held firm. In all fairness, the Egyptians deserved at least a draw. But they did not make their chances count while Senegal did... They scored after Diatta lobbed a cleared ball by Egypt's goalie over the Egyptian D into the top left corner. El Hadjj Diouf also had a glorious chance to double the score but he missed a sitter towards the end of the game after dribbling past the Egyptian goalie and shooting against the outside of the post... The Egyptians had a great chance to equalize too, but they squandered this chance when their striker volleyed over the cross bar. While the quality of play, at times, dipped well below a high standard, Senegal showed great tenacity in the face of a serious Egyptian onslaught. A good result which was reflected by the smiles on the faces of the players after the game. However, much work remains to be done if they are to survive past the group stages.. <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>> To view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] <<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>//\\<<//\\>>
