This enables radio stations to beam down more information about the programs that they offer. For example, music stations can give you information about the name of the song playing, the artist name, and so forth. I believe for some of these services there is a subcription fee. In order to be able to receive these features you need to have a digital receiver that is satellite enabled... I think. Hope this helps.
