The peaceful demonstration did go on up to the State house gates. the protesters from various wards and the Youth carried slogans such as "Banjul is not for sale" etc. Their grievance as i said was against the selection process. I understand there is yet to be a response from the President. The demonsration details can be read in today's observer. There are similar protests from APRC members over the irregular selection of one Kemo Conteh over the others in old Jeshwang for the local govt elections. Political parachuting seems to be rife amongst the APRC ranks. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
