Kebba,

If you believe for one moment that my mission on the L have changed, you better think again. Like I promised you and your cohorts, I shall continue to report all the positive things happening in the country and observe, with glee, how you go all out to try to discredit me and while at the same time trying to enforce your self-denial on some of your fellow narrow-minded bigots. This, I owe to all Gambians in the Diaspora who use the L to get information about our country.

Secondly, whatever gave you the idea that I will ever conveniently or otherwise pretend that I haven't seen what you write on this list is beyond me. Take it from me that I will never do that! In fact I really do look forward to your posts. However that does not mean that I have to respond to any silly thing that you write.

Of late I have noticed, much to my satisfaction, that you do not have anything negative to write about the government or country. I, on the other hand, have a lot of positive updating to do. Just watch fout this space. By the way, have you noticed how  the country is making giant strides in its quest to develop into a decent place we can all be proud of to call our home? I know it can sometimes be difficult to come to terms with that but that is the reality and there is absolutely no denying it!

Coming to the planes and tour operators that do not bring in tourists, the idea was just to borrow from your book the art of deception and the distortion of the facts. It seems to me that you always see the mirror image of things happening in the country. When roads are contructed and in use, you to delude yourself that they do not exist. I tell you about the increased access to schools and their resultant  contribution to the much higher transition from primary to high school and the increased retension of the young in schools and you tell me the schools do not have teachers or furniture. I tell you about our improved health facilities and you tell me they are mortuaries. What do you expect? Of course I will tell you that the almost doubling of airline landings at Yundum is as a result of nobody wanting to travel to the country. By the way, wasn't it only a couple weeks back that you were claiming that the government had jetisoned all chances of foreign investment into the country when they usurped power in 1994? Can you point to any recent reports from the country to counter my insistence that foreign direct investment and local investment by Gambians is on a steep rise? Can you show me one iota of evidence that people do not have confidence in the government or their policies? My friend, get real.

Coming to Yus's reaction to my posting on the latest developments in the tourism sector, you Kebba, know more than anyone else that Yus did not add one iota of anything useful to what I have reported. So, why delude yourself into thinking that he made any sensible new suggestions. I say, NO KB! And please, don't try talking to me about human rights and what not. You know very well that your idea of human rights and mine are diametrically opposed to each other.

As for Mr. Nyang's correction about the demise of FTI, please do not try to read anything into it. What you should have concerned yourself with is the fact that the most important sectors of our economy, particularly the tourism sector, are doing far better than at any time before. In fact I won't be surprised at all if one of the objectives of vision 2020, i.e attracting up to one million visitors into our country by 2020 happens before that time. And guess what, Gambians are taking a more active part in that sector.

Have a good day, Gassa.

PS: How is good old Montreal? I understand you are doing very well there. Keep it up and cover up very well. It can be incredibly cold out there. For us here, well the temperature fluctuates between a high 0f about 34 degrees Celcius to lows of about 17 degrees.

There is a time in the life of every problem when it is big enough to see, yet small enough to solve. -Mike- Levitt-
