I am so sad to hear the shocking death of my scout Harry Valentine. My heart
broke. When Harry joined 3rd Kombo Scout Troop - Kanifing, I was then the
scout master and David Hafner was my assistant. During that time I observed
that Harry has great potential as a young boy. He was a person with great
respect and dedication. He does his work with commitment and pride. He was a
cheerful person and works well with everyone. He was a reliable person and
someone you can count on. As a scout Harry rose through the ranks and became
a patrol leader and then troop leader where he exercised his leadership
skills. He was a person who was proud of being a Gambian, loved and served
his country to the best of his ability. His service to the Gambia will be
remembered particularly by those who had the chance to work with him as well
as those who knew him as a person. He was a person with integrity, a person
who keeps his words and a person who cares about people. Above all, he was a
person with great sense of duty and does not hesitate to take up any
responsibility bestowed on him. My condolences to his family and friends.
Harry, we miss you. May your soul rest in perfect peace. My scout salute to
you.
