Guys: I do not think that Gambia has the resources to host such a tourney at this point. Rumor has it that GFA league games have at times, attracted less that 50 people. This to the point where an article was written about the lack of interest shown towards soccer by Gambians of late. The logistics for hosting such a tourney include building adequate housing facilities and mini-stadia in other parts of the country where the tourney will be held (note; all matches cannot be held at Independence stadium), plus setting up adequate logistics for the press to transmit these games live. A great amount of this money will have to come out of govt. coffers.. Mali got great exposure and thus good return on investment by hosting the recentlly concluded ANC, but can the same said for the an under - 17 tourney.. I love soccer, but my opinion is that we should back-out of this arrangement. -Yus ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
