The world that we live in today displays all sorts of technological gadgets that one would not have envision 20 years ago. The wind of technological development has by passed the world’s poorest continent Africa. African leaders are more interested in securing their grip on power and are less worried about the technological sweep happening in the world especially in other developing countries like Asia and Latin America. We may have to play a little push button politics to get into the heads of our leaders for them to understand the plight our daughters, sons, brothers and sisters may face in today’s global economy.

As citizens of our beloved continent, we should take it on ourselves to help in any way possible to help educate and enlighten our sisters and brothers to understand the importance of technology in the 21st century. While we may lack the resources needed but by serving as mentors we may provide them the opportunities you and I have missed while we were in their positions.

We may not be able to solve the technological problem of every African nation but we can help our country the Gambia, by enlightening our sisters and brothers back home or in the Diaspora about the opportunities in the technical field. That’s why we have joined hands together as young professional in the Engineering and Computer Science to find a way to help or serve as mentors to those folks interested or may not have known much about the technical field.  To facilitate this process we have been soliciting Corporations to donate us with technical equipment and books that we think will be beneficial to our sisters and brother back home. Recently US CELLULAR donated 4 computers to the organization and we are in the process of finding a ! home for these computers.

Please join THE ASSOCIATION OF GAMBIANS IN ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE (AGECS).
