What is going on within the UDP is the same color of Waa surfacing. This is who Waa is and what he is all about. The UDP has been at the verge of collapsing since it boycotted the NAM elections. I would hate to say I knew so, but have some of us not pointed it out here some time ago? If I can guess right, I am predicting that Waa will try to form his own party which will become a disaster and Darboe will give up on politics. What he might do, I cannot guess. On the fact that the UDP is cash stranded, should be known. There was never any funds, and there has never been any funds for any opposition in the Gambia. This should have been corrected over 30 years ago to make sure opposition parties get some funds from the government. If not, it is always going to be very difficult to even have a viable opposition. A viable opposition, I think the UDP has failed to be since it merged with defunct parties of the first Republic. This is certainly arguable. The UDP problem is not only financial, it has a lot to do with the way with the party was built on. Any party built on personnel and not principles is bound to fail. Any party built on malaise is bound not to succeed for sooner or later, its weaknesses will be found. And this is why Waa can NEVER form or even be part of any successful party. He has always been siding with "my enemies' foes are my friends'."
