Castigating Senegal and/or The Gambia is not the way forward. The two counries are inextricably linked and condemned to live together. The SeneGambian people accept this fact but I often wonder if the politicians of the two countries are equally convinced. If recent border closures, tariff wars and restrictions of goods and people are anything to go by, I think they (the politicians) need to take lessons from the ordinary person in the streets of Banjul, Bignona and Dakar who are living the SeneGambian reality very day. I have been calling relatives in Dakar and Zinguinchor since the tragedy to enquire about relatives and friends who might have been on that fateful journey.
