Pa Modou,

The Amdassador's name is Jackson McDonald and not the other way around. My
last posting on the issue was incomplete as you can see. The full text,
which I cannot retrieve, says that in times like these, cool heads must
prevail which appears to be the case in Senegal with the religious leaders
contributing significantly by providing much needed spiritual support to a
nation in shock.

Regarding progress or lack thereof of the Government on the economic,
social and governance fronts, although there has been slippages in the
past, the donor community seems to be relatively satisfied with progress
registered thus far. The issue, as I see it, is to maintain the pace by
building on past gains. Wi
tnessing the political events in Cote d'Ivoire,
we as Gambians, must preserve the social peace by ensuring that democratic
governance is well entrenched. To achieve this goal, ruling and opposition
parties must work together for the good of all while maintaining their
respective party platforms and ideologies.

Sidi Sanneh
