In a somber mood, President Wade urge every Senegalese in a nation wide
address to search their individual consciences in the face of the most
tragic event ever experienced by Senegal. He assured Senegalese that his
Government will investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy with
courage and impatiality. Nothing short of the truth, the whole truth, is
acceptable to his Government. To achieve this objective, a Technical
Commission has been formed with clear Terms of Reference to arrive at the
truth.

President Wade, meanwhile, confirmed the resignations of the Ministers of
the Armed Forces and Equipment and Transport Youba Sambou and Youssoupha
Sakho respectively.

Concerning the support extended by friends and neighbours of Senegal, he
made special effort
to single out the Gambia for her role in the rescue
effort. He asked that bodies recovered around Sanyang area that cannot be
transported to Senegal be buried in The Gambia. Other designated burial
sites are Ziguinchor, Kaffountin and Dakar.
