Messrs. Janneh & Bojang, To be precise, the stacks of electrical poles that Dr. Janneh saw along the Kombo Coastal Road (KCR) is not part of the Rural Electification Programme, as we know it. It's important to distinguish the activities along the KCR from the Rural Electrification Project which has yet to be implemented. The process is at the tender stage and my information is that it is about to be concluded shortly provided the recommendations of the Tender Board is endorsed by the lead donor agency and Government. It is important to clarify this point at this stage as the tender for the Rural Electification Project has NOT been awarded as I post this message. This clarification notwithstanding, the programme will improve appreciably the living standard of rural Gambia once it is on stream and implemented well. [I responded similarly to Gassa's question to me on this specific project a few days ago.] While I am at it, I might add that the Coastal Protection Project designed to stop and reverse the coastal erosion problems facing us will be concluded shortly. The Contractor for the project has been identified through International tender and should be in the process of mobilising to commence work. Again, Dr. Janneh will be a main beneficiary along with coastal folks like myself, not to speak of the Gambian economy which depends increasingly on tourism. Things are coming as we go. I was very impressed with the drive to Gunjur when I visited. It took me 28 minutes from Kerewan to Barra. That was also very impressive. It is my understaning that the building of roads is also continuing. Sure progress is being made. Otheriwse, I hope you enjoyed your trip? Ousman Jallow Bojang. Stacks of electric poles are piled along the Kombo Coastal Roads, to the delight of many of us. This phase is expected to cover an area up to Sanyang. Gunjur and Kartong are to be included in the second phase, which will follow shortly. In addition, a water project for Gunjur has reportedly been signed and is expected to be implemented very soon. This is progress! Amadou SJ "Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon...must inevitably come to pass" (J.
