Modou: It's addling to see how majority of the postings on these online forums espouse the power of media freedom and respect for one's right and yet you come across such amateurish gibberish by those whose rights have been advocated here at all cost. I can understand the competitive pressures on news paper journalism but the guide post must always remian - What best serves the interests of the reader and the public while remaining fair to those named in the story and those responsible for the source of the news? Not: Can we beat our competitors even though we haven't nailed down this story? Your story about the 'journalist' who wanted to pay is just cracking me up. Yet again, it gives you a hint of the bigger socila probl es we have back home. Who knows, perhaps that particular reporter have had someone pay him to publish a damaging story about someone else or may have been privy to such transaction journalism in the past. Makes you wonder. We have bigger social, economic problems than you can imagine! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
