A meeting would be held on saturday the 1st of february at the Rinkeby Folkets HUs for those living in Stockholm at 15.00 This is a none political initiative Scorpions International Support Federation Introduction In the last decade Gambians and friends of the Gambia have experienced a great leap in the development of sorts among Gambians both at home and abroad. As a testimony to this fact is the winning by the U17 football of the Africa tournament and the forthcoming hosting of the U17 tournament in the Gambia in 2005. There is at the same time a considerable increase of individual Gambians playing as professionals in the international arena. The senior football team has also reached the finals of the last Zone 2 Amilcar Cabral Cup and is now aiming to participate to the level of the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup. With the currents of the economies of the African Nations it is only the extra and conscious participation of the people that can develop the standard of the National teams. The Scorpions International Support Federation was created after observations of the deficiencies and potentials of the Gambian national teams and consultations among Gambians at home and abroad with intention to cooperate and participate in the development of the teams and Gambian players. Aims and objectives - To create an international, independent, non-partisan and incorruptible network for the support and development to the Gambian national teams in e.g. Football, Basketball, volleyball etc. · To give financial and moral support to the Gambian National Teams To assist in the scouting of players, trainers and other participants for the national teams. · To help with contacts and sponsors to individual players and the Gambian national teams. · Stimulate, organize, inform and mobilize people to participate in the development of the Gambian national teams. · Create a forum and an international solidarity network amongst Gambians and friends of the Gambia for the Gambian national teams. · Solicit and produce materials to be used by the Gambian national teams and their organizers. Structure - The creation of Scorpions Support Clubs at the local level e.g. villages, town neighborhoods, workplaces nationally and internationally. - National committees to coordinate the efforts of the local committees. - Regional committees e.g. Europe America, Asia and Africa. - Headquarters in Banjul, Atlanta and Stockholm. - Organizing committees and coordinators are elected at all levels. Activities - Fundraising and seeking of donations in form of jerseys, shoes, balls, training equipments, films, books etc. - Participate in the organization of tournaments in order to make player scouting easier and more effective. - Encourage the creation of teams in the different disciplines. - Assist in the seeking of contracts for potential international players. - Run a homepage, and publishing brochures informing on events and personalities relating to the Gambian national teams. - Organization of workshops and seminars relating to the Gambian national teams and to the development of sports in the Gambia and among Gambians. Membership All those who adopt the aims and objectives of the federation can be members, after consulting and being admitted into a local branch. Where there is no local branch, the interested person can consult the national or regional committee in order to start a local branch with minimum three members or be a member of the nearest local branch.
