Dear G-ler,

I just don'e know where to start with this heart breaking news. Satang Jobarteh a feminist, human right activist has passed away yesterday.

Satang has been a friend, sister, she has  struggled all her life to make sure that there is justice back home. She has worked hard to make sure that youths back home are given the chance and opportunities. And this lead to her setting up the SIMMA Vocational Centre. Her dream was for SIMMA to have its own building, a multi purpose centre for the youths. This dream came througth last year when she moved SIMMA Vocational Training Centre to a new building at Bundung.

This morning these youths were asking me the question what are we going to do now?  We cannot take care of our selves at present, will there be another Satang?

This news is really shocking to me, it is devastating. I did not only lose a friend, but a Sister and a politically committed Gambian.

May her Soul  Rest in Peace

Ndey Jobarteh
