QUICK HITS * 14-year-old Freddy Adu may not play in Saturday's game against Nigeria due to a slight ankle sprain he suffered during the Manchester United game on Thursday. As a precaution he didn't practice on Friday morning and is listed as day-to-day, but should be fine when the team arrives in Finland * Co-captain Corey Ashe is also a bit banged up with a right quadriceps strain and also sat out during practice on Friday. * Nigeria defeated an Everton FC youth team 3-0 on Wednesday. * Every field player saw action during the team's 2-1 win over Manchester United on Thursday (August 7). The only two players to remain on the bench were goalkeepers Phil Marfuggi and Steve Sandbo. * The team took a trip to Manchester United's stadium, Old Trafford, today after practice. The team got a tour of the stadium, which included the chance to see the players' locker room and entrance tunnel. * The U.S. Under-17 MNT last faced Nigeria in the 2001 FIFA Under-17 World Championship in Trinidad & Tobago, falling to the eventual runner-up of the tournament 2-0. * Nigeria is also competing in the World Championship and is in the Group B, considered the "Group of Death," along with Argentina, Costa Rica and Australia. * Nigeria lost to Sierra Leone, the USA's second opponent at the World Championship, 1-0 in the semi-finals of the African Junior Championship. Nigeria still qualified for Finland by taking winning the third place match over Egypt 3-1.
