As promised he is the updated version of the recent happenings in the Gambia. Famara Jatta's sacking is prompted by recent local media reports in which Jatta openly confirmed to the press about Baba Jobe's tax arrears to the state amounting to over D20million dalasis. Jatta says Baba Jobe's youth Development Enterprises including other business firms in the country are owing millions of dalasi worth of tax. These are who evading tax are said to be in the good books of the regime and no body dared to confront them. This revealations by Fams angered the Baba and others. This led to the sacking of custom's Boss mboge and three of staff, Famara Jatta and his permanent Secretary Dodou Bamy Jagne. GPA's Deen is also rumoured to be fired. Many heads will roll said my sources as Famara's statment was perceived as an attempt to expose corrupt practices of regime. The NIA has been investigating the customs activities. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To Search in the Gambia-L archives, go to: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/CGI/wa.exe?S1=gambia-l To contact the List Management, please send an e-mail to: [log in to unmask] To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
