Folks What a load of rubbish from Yanks. Please read on. Constitutional Amendment To Continue… The Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture, Yankuba Touray, has disclosed that the 1997 Constitution will continue to be amended until "it is very good for the country." SoS Touray made this revelation in the wake of the amendment to Section 48 of the constitution by the National Assembly on Tuesday. The amendment changes the country's electioneering system from two rounds of voting to simple majority. SoS Touray said laws are made to be amended, stressing that with time, people will realise that there are certain clauses in the 1997 Constitution that are no more suitable for the country due to the rapid pace of development and changes in the minds of people. He reiterated the need for the constitutional amendment, stating that they will continue to make amendments to the constitution during the course of their tenure in office. He said the amendment alluded to by the opposition is significant in the sense that it saves resources. Commenting on the proposed opposition coalition, SoS Touray said it is a non-starter as it has to be legally registered with the Independent Electoral Commission, which has not yet been done. ________________________________________________________________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends?
