He was 86 and passed away peacefully in his sleep. Uncle was the only living brother of my late mother and is survived by a sister, aunt Aji Mammy Ceesay.

Mam John lived most of his life in London where he settled down in 1947. Gambian veterans of London will remember him for his deep religious knowledge and steadfast soul. He continued to perform religious rites within the Gambian community until his final days. The body will be flown home to Banjul on Tuesday November 11th and will be laid to rest on Wednesday the 12th.

May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace!
