Not sure if the Swedes are trying to impact our bottom line or promote th tourist trade as some allege, or if the global movement to expose paedophiles and others sex consumers who take advantage of the lax laws in developing countries is what is at work here. Whatever the case, we must realize that with the advent of AIDS, there is a risk that the proliferation of this disease in countries like ours can be devastating to say the least. I believe it is high time that our government enacts laws to prevent the place from being the playground of paedophiles and cheap sex seekers and works to get the cooperation of Tourists' home countries to effectively punish anyone who violates these laws in our country. There is a growing and very powerful movement in the U.S, actually a non-profit organization founded by women that has been very effective in enacting laws that will allow U.S citizens who violate anti-sex trade and related laws, sex with minors etc to be tried and jailed right here for violations committed in Thailand for example. They are adding many countries willing to cooperate on their list. Economic benefits from Tourism are an important part of our economy, but I hope we never loose sight of the fact that there are side effects to tourism that can have far more devastating negative results if there are no checks and balances to ensure that guests to our country do not see the place as a free for all where they can practice what they cannot get away with in their home countries.
