The issue here is really how it was worded in my humble opinion. No one predicts death . That is the only thing specified specifically in the holy Quran not even the prophets could . I guess that probably was the point or the bone of contention not suicide or murder .

Every soul shall have a taste of death and that time is unpredictable for all souls .

I happen to have met the good old man in my youthful high school days many moons ago with one  his relatives from gungur who owned  a taxi and was passing by there . I remember the well etc
