The three men ,Ebrima Dam, Mutarr Jallow and Demba Bah are currently detained at the Mansakonko police station. Another suspected accomplice, Demba Jibu Bah, was reported to be at large. Sources in Dongoro-Ba said the three rustlers allegedly stole three heads of cattle belonging to one Alhaji Ismaila Dem of Dongoro-Ba and headed towards Bredala, a border village. However, one of the cattle escaped and returned to base leading to suspicion that they might have been stolen. He further said: “when the owner informed us that his cattle were missing, I asked the youths of the village to divide themselves into three search groups and, after a thorough search, two of the rustlers were apprehended while the third escaped to Cassamance.” The two then informed the police that one Demba Bah was among them which led to his arrest. When contacted, Ebrima Cham, police officer commanding LRD, confirmed the arrest and added that they had been charged with stealing under section 255 of the criminal code . Mr Cham further said that the reasons for their prolonged detention was in connection to similar crimes in the past, as one of them confessed to have stolen other two heads of cattle from the same village. “We are keeping them so that they can help us in our investigations because cattle rustling is rampant in the area,” Cham said. © Copyright 2003 by Observer Company Top of Page News Latest Headlines After 20 days in detention Airport Imam releasedSuspected livestock disease in Kombo CentralNotorious cattle rustlers caught in JarraVinasha to release new movieKMRCB hold HIV/Aids symposiumJammeh, others expected at ICT Forum todayOMVG hydroelectric project to commenceSecurity chiefs end nationwide tour306 pilgrims arrive more expected todayNIA diamond case suffers another setback following magistrate’s impending transfer News --------------------------------- Notorious cattle rustlers caught in Jarra By Modika Bah Feb 2, 2005, 10:18 Email this article Printer friendly page Police in Jarra Bureng last Tuesday arrested three suspected cattle rustlers, the Daily Observer learnt yesterday.
