They try so hard
(An ode to two brothers in shame)

They try so hard
to hide the sun
With lying brushes
They paint the air
To hide all that
They hate to see.

They try so hard
To make believe
The earth's the sky
The sky the earth
That he who was there
Never was
To stick the fruit
To a barren tree
To see a star
Where there is none
To drape ignorance
In the robes of wisdom.

They try so hard
- long legged green creatures!! -
So sad to see
How so hard
They try to mute
Erase some name
From the slate of life
Deny what is
To force the blind
See magnificence where there is none.

They try so hard
These mediocre spirits
Co-conspirators in a plot of lies
Of defamation and impersonation
They think they hide
But naked they stand
The judge and jury impatiently wait
For the day when truth shall shine
And lies exposed
Envy shamed
Jealousy whipped
Then they would not
It's futile to try
To paint the skies so dark
Or pretend they are
What they are not, can never be.
