Folks,
There is serious talk behind scene that St John's University our host
will shut down Maelstrom the server Gambia-l and many others operate
from. While no public statement is received from officials at St Johns,
it looks like the future isn't all that great. In order to avoid any
serious disruption when the day comes, I would suggest that we start
shopping around for another host. There are a number of alternatives out
there.
Look for another free host like St Johns or Univesity of Washington
Subscribe to Companies that host lists for a fee (this does not look
viable although its good to know)
Alternatively, tech savvy members put resources together and setup our
own G-L Listserv. I understand there are plenty of opensource
technologies out there.

Let me know what you think. At this point, all ideas are assumed good
until proven otherwise.
