Mr. Darboe:

I guess me and these folks  must both be men enough and face the truth.  Which is, stand up for what we believe is right and against what is wrong.  They should defy his orders by refusing to work on his farm if they believe in their hearts it is against their will.  I know that is what I will do.  Yaya or anyone acting on his behalf cannot fire all these folks.

Before Yaya, these folks were living their lives, and certainly after him, they would still live.  So don't tell me they are doing it to safe their jobs unless they do not believe in God.

Lamin

>Tunkara, are you holding breath for yahya jammeh or what? What is more than a forced labour than seeing a head or a senior officer in a government department in the Gambia going around serving employees with solicitation letters urging them to go and work on yahya jammeh's farm in Kanilai when they NEVER and WILL NEVER ask to to so at their own free will? If this is happening in the Gambia, it is nothing short of a forced labour imposed on gambians by the so-called mansa of Kanilai. Do you think all those people would want to travel all the way from Banjul to Kanilai just because they want to eat the bull yahya would slaughter for them for lunch? No! No! No!. They fear that they will become the next victims as some people who failed to obey such orders had already become victims of such circumstances. They will become jobless the next morning should they refuse the order from their boss of their department of this kind. Unfortunately this is what is happening in our country now.

They give you the impression that those people volunteered to work for you when it is not always the case. Instead most of those people had to be compelled by circumstances to participate, either to protect their jobs, like the lady mentioned above, or they have other interests to protect".

>How could we  be pointing blaming fingers at  one direction.  Does it ever occur to any of us that we are sometimes part of the problem.  The people that worked at the farms against their so called will, or the "big dudes" in the administration that volunteer government employees to Yaya are all part of this mess and matter of fact encouraging the ordeal.  You and I both know this.  The report stated that these "big men or women" give Yaya the impression that these folks are voluntarily working for him.  One thing I know I would do if I was in this predicament was to refuse.  Keeping quiet, as these folks are doing, I do not think, will help.  The more we stay quiet, the more hypocritical we become.
