Sidi Sanneh Appointed New Gambian High Commissioner to Senegal

According to official sources, Mr Sidi Morro Sanneh, former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, has been appointed New Gambian High Commissioner to Senegal.
Mr Sanneh, 58, attended Gambia High School, and did further studies in USA where he obtained a masters degree in 1975. He also obtained a certificate in management studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1976.
Mr Sanneh has worked at the Ministry of Economic Planning and Industrial Development, Ministry of Agriculture, and Finance and Economic Affairs successively. He was also appointed as Assistant and subsequently Executive Director of the African Development Bank.
He was once UNDP senior adviser responsible for the mobilisation of resources for the entire UNDP country offices in Africa under the Regional Bureau for Africa and Arab countries.
Mr Sanneh has wide experience in administration. He is bilingual, speaking English and French fluently. In addition to Senegal, he will also have multiple accreditation to Mali and Burkina Faso.
In another development Mr Willy Joof, Gambia’s ambassador to France, is appointed permanent secretary at the department of State for Foreign Affairs, while Mr Tamsir Jallow has been reinstated as deputy High Commissioner in the UK.
Mr Sanneh’s appointment has been greeted with high public acclaim given his past performance and reputation in the Gambian public service and beyond.
