The taskforce set up to look into the corruption and abuse of office allegations levelled against the suspended mayor of Banjul, Pa Sallah Jeng, is expected to submit its report anytime next week, the Daily Observer has gathered.
 
According to sources, the taskforce is neck deep in work putting together its findings, after about a forthnight of hearing testimonies of several witnesses.

 Mayor Jeng was suspended from office by the secretary of state for Local Government and Lands, Ismaila Sambou in the wake of mismanagement allegations made against him by some eight councillors.
 
The councillors who passed the resolution are: Marie Dalliah of Soldier Town Ward, Awa Sillah-Njie of Crab Island Ward, Winson Syngle of New Town West Ward, Assan Cham of New Town East Ward, Ousman Jobe of Box Bar Ward, Momodou Dodou Biran Njie of Half Die Ward and Dawda Drammeh of Campama Ward and Mam Sai Njie, the deputy mayor of Banjul.
 
All the councillors and the mayor have appeared before the commission.
Since then, Mam Sai Njie, the deputy mayoress, has been acting as the mayoress of Banjul.
