EDITORIAL AN IDLE MINISTER VISITS OBSERVER AMIDST REVELATIONS ON HIS BROTHER DR. TAAL Octoger 14, 2005 When you call him an idle Minister, you make no mistake. When you call him a sympathiser, you make no mistake. When you call him an enemy to the media, you make no mistake. Bai Mass Taal Minister of Fisheries visiting the Daily Observer to sympathise with his disgraced brother Dr.Saja Taal, following ALLGAMBIA'S editorial captioned "DAILY OBSERVER STRANGERS ON RAMPAGE AGAIN -WE CAN SMELL THE SMOKE OF MARIJUWANA IN THEIR OFFICES." His visit is indeed revealing due to the timing . This is ridiculous and unacceptable to Gambian tax payers. Bai Mass Taal's attempt to abandon his office, just to feed his brother with an editorial published by The ALLGAMBIAN is unacceptable. We expect any state Minister who worth his or her salt to remain in office and work, rather than meddling into trivial matters of this nature. Bai Mass Taal's conduct, seem to have confirmed previous concerns raised by The Gambian Community that some of our Minister's are idle and not sensitive to their plight. We don't see the rationale behind Taal abandoning his busy offices, just to inform Dr.Taal about an ALLGAMBIAN editorial, which he (Bai Mass) could not withstand or digest due to the truthful nature of its content. We are not the least surprised by Bai Mass action, as we are reliably informed that some of his colleagues are also engaged in such secret activities bent on creating a negative picture about The ALLGAMBIAN. We are not stopping anybody from down loading our pieces, but we wouldn't hesitate to caution Yahya's Ministers to speak the truth and avoid misrepresenting The ALLGAMBIAN. We have no axe to grind with genuine and patriotic Gambians. Our concern is focused on those hiding in the name of governance to cause havoc and instability in The Gambia. The ALLGAMBIAN will continue to expose such so called politicians or intellectual prostitutes without morals or principles. We have nothing against Bai Mass Taal and his brother Saja Taal. We are against Dr.Taal's insincerity and dishonest nature, who is not only a disgrace to the current Gambian generation, but to the country's future generations. If Saja Taal was a man of conscience and principle, he wouldn't allow Jammeh to remote control him as a toy. Taal is only interested in lining his pockets with money and not his integrity, which is gone from the very day he allowed to be hired and fired at random. We expect so called intellectuals like Taal, to be innovative and be able to create their own things without been employed by government. But the picture Dr.Taal is trying depicts is that without Jammeh, he will not survive or he will die of hunger. We want our intellectuals to think more than that and be self reliant. Dr.Taal has to some extent contributed to the current governance crisis going on in The Gambia, as he never bothered to guide the boys, if whereas they are going astray. A man claiming to be a political scientist ought to know better. It is better for Taal to change now, so that he can leave a good legacy for his children and grand children. To many, it would be very difficult for him to revamp his battered image and credibility. But it is never too late for one to make a second impression. To his brother Bai Mass Taal, we say continue with your state Ministerial job and stop meddling into trivial matters like this, which was provoked by your brother Dr.Taal himself. The Gambia is currently engulfed with economic and political uncertainties and we expect you to tell us something about the much talked about Gambia's oil. By the way, what is the latest on the said oil? We really want to know, because your boss Jammeh promised us last year that drilling will start before year end and still we haven't heard anything about the said promise. Weeks and months passes and nothing is done yet. What is going on with the oil sites you discovered? Bai Mass Taal, we urge you to try and stay in office, before Jammeh's iron broom will be extended to your door. We know you have already survived two planned firings. Therefore, you should remained focus and stop the pettiness. We are not intimidated by your recent moves to discuss our editorial with your brother Dr.Taal. Go ahead and do whatever, you wanted to do. We cannot be cowed by such moves. We know you will be surprised as to how we know about your Observer visit. We have sources in the heart of the Daily Observer, who are working day in day out to keep us posted about happenings there. Your brother have already constituted a secret task force to trace our this insider correspondent(s). But we want to remind him that he will fail woefully and miserably. He may end up touching the wrong people, which is unacceptable. Saja, please leave the boys alone. They are patriotic Gambians, unlike you who is bent on kissing the ass of the current administration. On a final note, we want to inform Fisheries Minister Bai Mass Taal to know that The ALLGAMBIAN is capable of digging information at his own bed room. We have the know how and the experience to get such information. We cannot be bullied by his malicious actions. We remain committed to report the truth and nothing but the truth. So God help us in our drive to expose the evils in our mother land. We rest our case.
