Dear The Global Democracy Project,

"Dear Mr. President..."

http://action.savedarfur.org/campaign/addyourvoice/ixissdn4975wmmx6?

Be a voice for Darfur. Add your voice today.

A few months ago, both presidential candidates pledged to bring peace to Darfur.

To me, that pledge wasn't another campaign promise to be discarded in office. It was a moral commitment to end a genocide that shocks the conscience.

The Global Democracy Project, I know you feel the same way. And so do millions of others. So we're sending one million postcards to the next president urging him to pursue peace in Darfur with "unstinting resolve."

Today, we're launching our nationwide "Be a Voice for Darfur" campaign. Click here to send a postcard and add your voice today.

The Darfur crisis will end only with the moral leadership and "unstinting resolve" the candidates have promised. The violence goes on. Refugee camps are brutally attacked. UNAMID peacekeepers are a barely detectable presence on the ground. China and other world leaders continue to turn a blind eye.

But there is reason for hope. Darfur activists the world over continue to raise their voices. The International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor has shown the world the campaign of destruction, violence and fear orchestrated by President Omar al-Bashir.

Imagine the potential for progress if the President of the United States, backed by one million activists, took bold action toward peace and protection in Darfur. It could happen. But with just a few months left until the new president takes office, we must start now.

"Dear Mr. President: make Darfur a priority from Day One."

In coming months, Save Darfur Coalition activists, supporters and coalition members around the country will be collecting postcards in their communities. But you, our dedicated online supporters, have the opportunity to kick-start the campaign today.

One million is a big number. So we'll be using tools like MySpace, Facebook and YouTube to build this movement. But there's no substitute for simple word-of-mouth. So click here to tell your friends about our campaign and ask them to join us.

Best regards,

Colleen Connors
