Bread consumers hail Kanilai Farm Bakery

Kanilai Farm Bakery, situated along Kairaba Avenue, may not be the newest bread making places in town, but its increasing popularity has become the talk of the town.

But what is it that makes this bakery so popular?
In our quest to answer this question, and also to explore the magnetic effect behind this popularity, we sent our reporters out to gauge a typical scene of the bakery in operation.

The many buyers they met queuing to get their share of the freshly prepared bread appeared ecstatic, and all those who spoke to these reporters had unreserved words of commendation for the management of the bakery.

They hailed the introduction of what they described as a quality bread that proves unique in the country’s bakery industry. A closer inspection of the bread revealed its actual quality, according to this reporter. Also noticeable about the bread is its sheer affordability, as demonstrated by the long queue of buyers who would wait for as long as it would take to have the bread made even when it is finished on the shelves. The bread is the cheapest in town considering its size and taste. Some said that it could not have come at a better moment, when bread consumers in the country have experienced all forms of exploitation by local bread bakers.

One Mustapha Jarju, who described himself as a regular customer of the bakery, expressed delight at having the opportunity to obtain bread from such a modern bakery in the country. He described the quality of the bread as excellent and of standard. “Despite its good quality, compared to other local bread, its price is just five dalasi.

This is historic in the country’s bakery industry,” he said. Jarju maintained that such initiative by its initiator only goes to alleviate the burden of the inflating cost of bread in the country. Amie Ndow, also a regular customer, who started buying from the bakery since its inception, said the bread is soft and easy to digest.

Due to its quality, she noted, the bread can be kept for up to two days. Kaaba Jallow joined others in expressing his delight with the establishment of such a modern bakery in the country. He further expressed his appreciation to the proprietor for bringing quality and affordable bread to Gambians.

For Sam Nyassi, the establishment of the bakery in the country will go a long way in wiping out the massive exploitation imposed on them by local bakers. He appealed to the proprietors to extend their services to all regions in the country in a bid to alleviate the hardship bread consumers have been faced with.

He also called on them to establish one in Brikama sooner rather than later. Mamy Saidy and Bakary Gibba all expressed their satisfaction for having such a bakery in town. Several other consumers who chose to remain anonymous hailed the steadfastness of the proprietors, descrbing their move as timely. They noted that such an initiative only goes to reduce the impact of inflation of the price of bread in the country.
