Dear Haruna

The SOS Children's Village: a place where children can grow up in happiness? Sure, that is our goal, that is what the SOS mothers, psychologists, educationalists try to achieve. However, upon coming to an SOS family the child frequently does not feel happy at all. For many children, the first time in the family ruthlessly brings to surface the pain they had to endure, their physical and mental injuries, and it can take months, sometimes years, before these children are able to love themselves and to accept love from others. Read the empirical report from a therapist from Morocco.

Ergo: The SOS Children's Village is not a children's paradise but rather a place where children are supported, taken seriously, accepted with their entire history, in their pain and in their joy - which they frequently regain in small steps only.

Thank your for helping us to achieve this!

Best wishes,

Richard Pichler
