Lamin

Thank you very much for your contribution. More than 141 387 Gambians voted for him and because of this do you you not think he should not have ran away as he has a duty to defend the voices of the 14187 Gambian voters who voted for him. Can you please explain what the Gambian constitution expects of a leader.

Please explain further if he had assess the risk involved in running for President. Do you think he regret his actions of 1996? Was it cowardice or was it a tactical move?

Some are now judging him to the valour and courage shown by Halifa Sallah and Sedia Jatta in 1994 and Halifa Sallah in 2009.

Is Darboe fit to lead the UDP after running away and leaving his supporters behind?

Please do not judge Darboe, Remember to contribute in as much as he is politician he is also a father but so was Sedia Jatta when he took on Jammeh in 1994

However did Darboe act as Muslim who just made a hejira twice to the High commission and then back from the High commission?

Yes Darbo was right to seek refuged in the 1996 presidential elections. It was the right decision for him and his family at that time. The presence of millitary officers, intelligence officers(NIA) and the green boys at kairaba avenue near his home speaks alot. The APRC party members thinks that they loose that elections and besides they taught that Darboe might declare himself the winner before the announcement of the results.
Darboe was adviced by his security team at that time to seek refuged .If not they would have kill him, like the way they did to Koro Ceesay,Deyda Hydara and our fathers ,brothes and uncles in the millitary and nothing will comes out of it.

Hi Gambia L Members,

I do want a serious and a mature debate as to whether in 1996 when Darboe seek refuge in the Senegalese High Commission even before the votes were counted, he was right to do so?

Please forget about sentiments and emotions when participating in this discussion. Remember to see Darboe in the two roles he play both as a party leader and a family man a father for this case.

Please contribute in this debate not because Darboe is a Mandinka/Jahanke/Sarahule/Jola/Wollof/etc, a Muslim/christian/Jew/Budhist/Atheist/etc, a noble/smith/griot/etc or any other thing save that he is a Gambian citizen.

Please be objective and be be honest when you participate in intellectual discussions.

I have posted this article in the Gambia post and I am quite satisfied with the positive response that I got. Now I want the contribution of the Gambia L to make my final comment. Please contribute as I relied on your opinions. Remember we are all partners for the good of The Gambia.

Best regards
