Dear supporter, Thank you for taking action for Troy Davis - he needs as much support as we can give. As you may know, on 16 April, the 11th Circuit Court took a decision to deny Troy a second petition for a writ of habeas corpus in the District Court. Amnesty International condemned this decision in the strongest terms. A 30-day continuation of Troy's stay of execution was granted, in order to give him the opportunity to file another habeas corpus petition, this time with the US Supreme Court. This stay of execution will expire on 16 May. On 19 May, there is a Global Day of Action for Troy Davis and Amnesty International UK will be demonstrating outside the US Embassy in London. Please join us if you can.
Timetable: 4:30pm: Assemble 5:00pm: Letter hand-in to the US Embassy 5:30pm: Troy's inspirational sister, Martina Corriea, will join us live by telephone. If you can't make it to the demo, please visit amnesty.org.uk/deathpenalty to email Governor Purdue, urging him to grant clemency to Troy. Thank you. Kim Manning Cooper Death Penalty Campaigner
