An Open Letter to Gambians & Friends; Part 6

Dear Editors & forum moderators,

I write to reach out to you all a greeting of peace. I am sure most if not all of you are subscribed to the major forum outlets where the discussion for a get-together has been dominant. Herein, the discussion is what role do we play? I do not know the answer more than any of you, but the reason for this mail is to re-energize and re-double our efforts in getting everyone on the table, especially Diaspora Gambians and their friends. I am neither a pessimist nor being too optimistic, but we know the solution to the problem lie in our hands. The simple aim and objective is ending the political nightmare in the Gambia and restoring it with a democratic system of Governance where citizens will live in a peaceful atmosphere. Such an atmosphere will enhance freedom of speech and development. A nation cannot develop with the existence of a “terrorist” administration on its citizenry. For far too long, our country has been hijacked by oppressors who seized our liberty and freedom. We can neither fold our hands and watch nor feel hopeless about a situation we can all change. We shouldn’t underestimate the history we can change by our little efforts. Straight without bends, I call on you all to endorse a “get-together” and get a vibrant body that will truly represent our voices.  Such a body can help influence our politicians and active organizations in true redemption.  I am sure most of you editors, moderators and associates has been seeing strange news breaks and getting all kinds of complaints, some of which you take with a grain of salt; others you don’t and others you just let go without knowing what to make of it. Knowing that fully well, yours in effort is hailed and appreciated. Not to stop there, let us finally get the job done. Once that happens, we can all get our flag flying once again, and we will sing in chorus: For the Gambia, Our homeland…For the Gambia, Ever True.” Over the years ahead, we are going to sit on the same table and discuss issues that matter to us. Don’t ever feel uninvited. You should invite yourself, as long as you belong to this constituent mentioned above. Again, to emphasize no single individual, organization or political party has the answers to all the looming questions at hand. Unanimously, we all do.  Similar letters will be addressed to individuals, organizations, political parties and their heads.

Sincerely,

YJ
