I agree that they should have simply recounted the votes, especially given the margin of victory they claim and that would have given more weight to their position and at the same time serve to disarm the media agent manipulators whose personal agenda to use this election to further their own goals cannot be discounted. I only hope that while they must pursue justice and fairness, the  Iranians maintain a clear head and can understand that those who are egging them on are not necessarily doing so because they care about them. They must tread a delicate balance so they can achieve their goals without selling their country and destiny in the process like some Iraqis did prior to the invasion and where has it led them?

I agree with you about the impetus for Mousavi demonstrations and I will only add that the votes were not counted.
I agree with Jabou that gerrymandering could yield the general perception that Amadoneyet did not in fact win the majority of votes in Iran.
Amadoneyet and Khamenee were scared straight that western media manipulation following Lubnaan's vote could engineer a fosse revolution and that is=2 0why they rushed to nip it in the bud. Methinks they did themselves wrong by not simply counting the votes. This is because if there was vote-rigging by either Amadoneyet or Mousavi supporters, then either of them could contest the elections and justifiably so. That would have been a more benign solution and could avoid the bloodshed that we may witness in the ensuing days.

The appearance that Khamenee and Amadoneyet are bent on bypassing Iranian laws to remain in power at all cost is what is troubling. They risk undermining their joint revolutions.

BBC can be caught in deception as claimed b y strategist but demonstration in the street of Teran is a called for restoration wide freedom more so women rights, openness, economic development and dialogue with the rest of the world. The extremist regime of Ahmadinemajad an d its policies have cause more suffering to Iranian masses. It is a fact the western media will continue to manufacture their own conscience bu the pledge of the people for greater freedom cannot be ignored.
