Another way you can help is to share this appeal with friends of yours some of whom are in the healthcare field. Value-life.

Haruna,

The rainy season here in Zambia is coming up in a few short months. That's when the mosquitoes bite - and when countless young children contract malaria.

Meanwhile, 1 in 7 people here are living with HIV/AIDS.

Zambia's health system is suffering from a massive health worker shortage, which makes it difficult to respond to the patient load.

It's heartbreaking to see how many lives are lost that could have been saved.

I'm working with an extraordinary team to support the Ministry of Health and strengthen Zambia's national health system through the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative, a project of the Clinton Foundation. In partnership with the government, we're increasing the number of qualified healthcare workers and reaching more people in need.

I've personally seen how far your support can go - and today, it will go twice as far.

Help those in greatest need by making a donation of $30 or more today. President Clinton will personally match your gift dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $100,000, but only until midnight FRIDAY, July 31.

Your donation, big or small, will have the maximum possible impact and will continue to save lives for years and years.

In Zambia, we're addressing the health worker shortage crisis by:

• Increasing the number of health workers in high-priority
professions. Simply put, lives are lost when pati
ents
cannot access a qualified health professional.

• Improving the distribution of healthcare workers. Health
workers painfully describe how patients in rural areas
would rather stay home than go to a facility - uncertain if
someone will be there to provide quality care.

• Supporting the development of a highly skilled and
productive workforce. Community health workers volunteer
to be a health advisor between their village and the nearest
health facility (some as far as 50 kilometers away). Many
may have been trained for only a few weeks.

My days are demanding, but the results are rewarding. My hope is to take our groundbreaking program beyond Zambia to other countries facing a similar health worker crisis.

But sweeping change like this requires resources. That's where you come in. We can't do this critical work without you.

Will you make a donation of $30 or more today? Until Friday, you'll double your impact - President Clinton will match every dollar you give.

I speak for everyone at the Clinton Foundation when I say thank you for helping to make this work possible - not only our work to advance health systems to improve health outcomes, but also our efforts to tackle HIV/AIDS, climate change, childhood obesity, and other major challenges around the world.

I hope you'll take advantage of this special opportunity to make twice the difference and give what you can.

Sincerely,
0ACharmaine Pattinson
