Thanks for your response my dear mother's name sake.

First how can your name be Suntu and why should you use

my mother's name? Don’t you have any other name than Suntu? Just joking.

Back to the question on the correlation of my bellow note to the issue in hand or to Suntu please clarify? My answer is; it has everything to do with both your worries stated above.

For Suntu to clarify was the title to the worries of others towards you misguided comment regarded Halifa worshipper as a comparison to the God of aprc as it was the root course of all these misunderstanding to be wisely change to leadership assessment title.

If politic is not a straight forward business therefore should be to destroy the peaceful atmosphere right? However, thanks for your effort of working harmoniously towards balancing the

differences Suntu.

I think this is what make you some times

out of touch with the reality because you have forgotten the political history of the Gambia. As the saying goes like this; forgotten where you came from will always deter the significant

progress towards the future.

Again Suntu I am not in anyway excusing myself from wrong because I will never be perfect and I will accept whenever am wrong and apologize or reframe my sentences than defending it,

moreover if politic is always a dangerous and self-centered affairs in African political dictionary one should, as you mentioned amicably

work towards balancing the difference that are sensitive and can brink about conflicts. Edi

What does the statements below have to do with anything we are discussing on "suntou should clarify?" Politics is not a straight forward business my friend. people associate with those they trust and feel secured by. Sometimes ethnicity, race and other human complexities comes into it. It is for us to work amicably in balancing the differences, but to blame others and excusing yourself is the must absurd way of talking politics.
I guess you are free from manifesting differences and Suntou is guilty by default of his mandinkaness and other write-ups.
Politics goes through different evolution, sometimes things are not what they seems. So concentrate of the issue at hand and avoid unnecessary PPP/UP stuff.

I wish the conversation starts like this at the earlier stage, provoking intelligence discussion than malicious one thanks to Rene and Bailo for changing the discussion towards an intelligent manner and I wish it can continue like this. However, my opinion regarding the problem facing PDOIS is neither their policy nor their organizational structure but the way politic was structured after the end of the colonial era. a larger number of people were not educated when PDOIS came to existence therefore, they will hardly notice the difference between communism and capitalism etc.

On the other hand, and if I may quote from the time of Progress, Peace, and Prosperity (PPP) and United Party (UP); PPP was profoundly the Mandingoes party while UP was of mainly Wolof party. (I think the reason behind naming the party (UP) was the fact that, they realized their minority status and therefore, without uniting these two tribes, they have no chance of winning election) and hence the majority were Mandingoes, PPP will always take the lead because that is what the political platforms conveys (tribal politic). However, even thus the party itself is Mandingo based the governing structure was Wolof and Akus based simply because, they were the educated ones at the time even though they are the minority. This is my opinion on why PDOIS is still stagnating in getting through to the main stream of our politic. Darbo is Mandingo while Sarr, Sallah, are taking to be wolof and Jatta as Jolo even thus he was from mainly Mandingo society.

For-example, Hon Kebba Nyama Leigh and Famara Wasa Touray's educational standards was not enough to secured them a ministerial post but because they are Mandingoes as well, the party needs to return the Mandingoes favour, as a result, favoritism pave its way into our party politics and governmental structure to bring about corruptions and mismanagements. The party will however, select the peopleтЩs choice as a minister but the day by day administrators who are Wolofs and Akus respectively will favor their own sons and daughters or close relatives in governmental position unqualified leaving the qualified one struggling from the bottom.

Besides, this is the same reason we wanted Yahya Jammeh out as our president because he is not an experience or qualify person to hold that post. Therefore, and as far as there are more educated ones now than it was, and as we are fighting to minimize the corruption level, we need to play away the tribal and favoritism politic to replace with who is qualify and capable to unite the people as one, than politics of whom you know or associated to. In this way, I suppose, will bring about progressive and effective as well inclusive governing of our affairs hence there are competent and educated individuals in every tribe to a managing cridential. Don't mix up issues that are completely incompatible. Some of you try stopping genuine discussion for unnecessary fears. why should we discuss any issue if  some think it will lead to one being branded a hypocrite?
This opposition leaders are the people all is looking to see the change we all want and they haven't achieve it yet Edi have they?
Why should we leave them alone? it is pathetic to see folks who talk about all issues except what they feel is base on their twisted notion of tribal and bigoted. very funny.
You haven't a glue what people stores in  their heart mister, talking nice is not the end, that is just a window.
The opposition as i said before should be provoked to take action by all means. And those taking action which is ineffective should also be exposed. None of them have had any mark on Yaya, and that man knows the strategy of the opposition before incubation. Why shouldn't we talk about them and make them realise, new ways are needed. if they cannot do it, we the ordinary people can try other methods. Politics shouldn't be trapped in holy sanctum without basis.

Well said Bailo and Rene,

It is so sad seeing people whose intentions should be to make changes are pondering on creating difference between people we relied on to bring those changes we desire. Be what you preach to gain what you deserve. If we are well educated in Islam as well boasting the fact that we know every good and bad regarding the religion at the same time provoking differences and initiating immoral discussion in a public forum is tantamount to hypocrisy and disobedience to what the religion preaches. However, it take two to tango and blame should also be to others who participate in such backwardness. We have big issues here to waste time on than Darbo, Hammat, and Halifa even whereas they are part of the solution should not prompt the competition we are creating between them. Creating competition means in this juncture, we are creating their differences in this critical time when we need their unity. The quote below is scarify quote from the Holy Quran of the only religion that can take us to heaven so let us be mindful to what it says to gain us the key to the Heaven.

Quotes from Sura 9 (Tawbah)= repentance Holy Quran

009.064 The Hypocrites are afraid lest a Sura should be sent down about them, showing them what is (really passing) in their hearts. Say: "Mock ye! But verily God will bring to light all that ye fear (should be revealed).
009.065 If thou dost question them, they declare (with emphasis): "We were only talking idly and in play." Say: "Was it at God, and His Signs, and His Apostle, that ye were mocking?"
009.066 Make ye no excuses: ye have rejected Faith after ye had accepted it. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you, for that they are in sin.
009.067 The Hypocrites, men and women, (have an understanding) with each other : They enjoin evil, and forbid what is just, and are close with their hands. They have forgotten God; so He hath forgotten them. Verily the Hypocrites are rebellious and perverse.
009.068 God hath promised the Hypocrites men and women, and the rejecters, of Faith, the fire of Hell: Therein shall they dwell: Sufficient is it for them: for them is the curse of God, and an enduring punishment,-
009.069 As in the case of those before you: they were mightier than you in power, and more flourishing in wealth and children. They had their enjoyment of their portion: and ye have of yours, as did those before you; and ye indulge in idle talk as they did. They!- their work are fruitless in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will lose (all spiritual good).
009.070 Hath not the story reached them of those before them?- the People of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud; the People of Abraham, the men of Midian, and the cities overthrown. To them came their apostles with clear signs. It is not God Who wrongs them, but they wrong their own souls.
009.071 The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practice regular charity, and obey God and His Apostle. On them will God pour His mercy: for God is exalted in power, Wise.

Within the week in the Gambian political scene in which the unlearned Sheikh Professor Dr President Tyrant of the Gambia had grossly abused the position of his Office by attempting to incite tribal discord in the Gambia with his irresponsible and malicious castigation of Mandingos, the usual on-line PDOIS loathers had no better response other than to resort to their same old tried and tested but failed disinformation campaign of accusing admirers of Halifa Sallah as regarding him as their God. Also In the same week during which the blood-thirsty rogue that we have as President in our country is yet still craving to spill more blood of innocent Gambians and comparing Gambian journalists to rat feaces, some supporters of our country╛Г╬┤╜в╛Г╜вчк╢хаЛ╜м╛Г╜вчк╢цек╜вs main opposition faction consider it more worth their time to re-engage others in the same useless arguments about the credibility of Halifa Sallah and the insignificant number of votes that PDOIS had been able to attract as a political party over the years. For this group of people, Suntou, Haruna et al, their interpretation of political credibility is primarily determined about the number of votes that could be attracted by a candidate or political party. If such a misplaced rationale is anything to go by then the APRC ought to be the most credible political party in the Gambia since 1994. No! that is not so and indeed it cannot be so. This same PDOIS loathers would argue that the APRC wins because of electoral fraud but PDOIS does not win because of their lack of credibility. I can╛Г╬┤╜в╛Г╜вчк╢хаЛ╜м╛Г╜вчк╢цек╜вt count the number of times that I felt obliged to get involved in such ultimately counter-productive and divisive discourse within the ranks of Gambia ╛Г╬┤╜в╛Г╜вчк╢хаЛ╜м╛Г╜вчк╢цек╜вs on-line opposition supporters. Personally I am now exhausted by it. I feel that there are far more important matters towards which we should be expending our precious time, energy and resources rather than responding to the Halifa-haters or someone who regards Ousainou Darboe as a coward. It is a fact that neither Halifa Sallah nor Ousainou Darboe and neither UDP/NRP nor PDOIS are the architects or causes of the current tyranny prevailing in our beloved country. On the contrary, Yahya Jammeh is the problem. We should focus on overcoming the problem instead of wearing ourselves out by engaging in futile efforts trying to discredit honorable Gambians like Halifa or Ousainou or Hamat. PDOIS could easily have been the most dominant political party in the country had the Party's leadership embraced the dominant culture of political patronage in the country. However the demise of such a system is why PDOIS is in existence.

We must as a matter of priority resist the tyrant╛Г╬┤╜в╛Г╜вчк╢хаЛ╜м╛Г╜вчк╢цек╜вs attempts to introduce ethnicity to the center stage of politics in our country. We must not allow him to further divide and rule us with his disgraceful tactics of tribal politics. We are all Mandingos, Wollofs, Serreres, Fulas, Jolas, Karoninkas, Akus, Manjagos, Sarahules, and most importantly we are all Gambians first. It ought to be apparent to most Gambians by now that no single ethnic group owns the Gambia or is mainly responsible for our current national political dispensation. The Gambia belongs to all present and future Gambians of whatever religion, ethnicity, race, creed, colour or IQ. We could either succeed or fail together.

I am therefore urging us all to expend our concerted synergies and influences towards rebuilding bridges between the two main opposition factions and leadership with a view to achieving a united opposition to contest in 2011 Presidential election against the nationally and internationally discredited incumbent.

Bailo
