Ladies and gents,
If I may add my two cents in this heated and controversial discussion. Quite frankly we all have opinions and ideologies which in all essence may not be aligned. Whatever differences we may have should not result to the kinds of language we see exchanged in some of the recent postings. I believe that this is a professional forum where decent people share opinions, thoughts above all facts that we can all share and learn from.
Ladies and gentlemen let’s not please derail from substance. Respect has to be given in order to be received. I am not certain what we expect the G-L management could or should have done in this instance. These are well informed adults that allowed themselves to be engage in such an unprofessional act on a professional forum. While it is true that there is management which bears the responsibility to moderate and oversee the site, the fact still remains that these guys acted irresponsible. If delisted which may be the only viable option besides moderating, what will stop them from acquiring a different email address, rejoin the forum and act even more irresponsible to satisfy their ego.
The bottom line is that if we as decent citizens, the rising elites of our nation cannot agree to disagree without resorting to this kind of name calling and inappropriate behavior or shifting responsibility then there is no hope for the future, because I would like to think that we carry the burden to effect change in our community and what better place to start than here. It should not come to this point period. All parties involved need to understand that they went too far, apologize and lets move on to discuss more pressing issues. I believe that every participant in this forum is mature and smart as a result should be responsible enough to walk away from such unnecessary dialogue when engaged.
My plea to all is to let civility prevail. We have a good thing going here kudos to the management team for giving us a place where we can have a professional discussion and enlighten each other. I know I am learning a lot from this forum and I am impressed about our individual and collective progress as Gambians wherever we are at.
Dr Jaiteh I met you years back at your home you might not remember, but I am impressed by the amount of work you and the management team are putting in daily to keep this forum alive. I will send you a personal email sometime soon.
