Brother Abdou,

Likewise, i have a lot of respect for you and I have no doubt about your analytical abilities and therefore, no doubt your ability to decifer the differencebetween genuine discourse and challenge to leadership versus deliberate character assasination as well as the difference between speaking the truth and giving credit where credit is due and blind hero worship which is for the unthinking and i know you know that to even suggest that I am engaged in hero worship is to insult my intelligence and I would never insult yours. Howver, I understand the strategy to use these specially and deliberately selected words as a tool to shut people up but those who do that are shortsighted enough into delufing themselves into thinking that this strategy will work. I wish them luck.

I know you didnot need lecture from me and alway with respect I rest my case. Thinking Suntou's attach on Halifa is a malign that depend on your personal judgement.20In many instances I have seen people coming into debate to insult other because the thematic is about their political heroes such as Ousainou Darboe or Halifa Sallah. The debate drag into insult, hate and anger to as next the ugly face of tribalism surface into. I am an advocate for change but am not a frantic follower of any political grouping in the Gambia. Putting into contexual analysis of the present state of Gambian politics there is a deficiency in Ousainou Darboe and Halifa Sallah that we the citizens have to raise. If you think we the concern citizens raising those points are maligning right enough. Classic case of sycophancy is what is given insurance to Yahya Jammeh that he can treat and harm Gambians any way. He is treated like a demi-god and no citizens have a right to challenge his policies and act.

Brother Abdu,

I wonder why you find it necessary to lecture me about people having a right to question their leadership. Have you ever seen me say anything that suggests anything to the contrary? There is healthy and genuine questioning of leadership and then there is a concerted effort to malign people and Suntou anyone on this list who say they have a clear head and are unbiased cannot miss the fact that what Suntou'is engafged in as far as Halifa Sallah is concerned is anything but genuine discourse. I have said that I will question that stance whever it rears it's ugly head and I will do it if anyone else is the victim. I think we need to be honest and desit from the desperate attempt of trying to redefine and expand profanity  in order to justify it's use in an exchange where it had no place and to atttempt to mask the obvious.

I still stand for my words. The list managers should do justice. The forum is for democratic discourse. It is not to exhibit hate anger and insult on people you don't agree with. I know you have a heated debate with suntou but knowingly of recent he is really a gentleman. Suntou having issues with PDOIS and ML Touray having issues with UDP more so should be healthy. At this critical moment in our history we have all rights to question for leaders but it is really sickening when it turns out into emotion.

Profanity my big beautiful black arse. What we forget is to define Profanity. I guess that's where the clueless idiocy lies.

Thank you Mboge.
And if I might add, the G-L rules are pretty succinct when it comes to the issue of profanity.

Anty Jabou,

Keep up the spirit.  You are one formidable human being i admire you.  Justice a la this certain manager you talking to is slow when it comes to some, to others it is swift.  I can remember being delisted for describing Jammeh with a very insignificant word (I mak e no apologies for using this word and will it use it anytime i feel like it and mark you this word is far milder than what i have seen here).  And this was done without even cautioning, or perhap s i am just simply annoying to this manager.  Talking about 'exploring all means to settle conflict, i think20not.  Thanks to the uneven dispensation of so-call justice Gambi-L style, the popular GAMBIA POST was born.

Best,

Mboge

Malanding,

Thank you.
I am glad to know that the wheels of justice are turning albeit slowly.
If we have a set up that mirrors Jammeh's kingdom, we would have lost the moral authority to say anything to him.

Sister Jabou,
While the wheels of justice may be exceedingly slow on the L, I will
assure you that it hasn't completely come to a halt. I am still waiting
on other members of the Management Team for their response before
submitting a final response.

Over the years, my po sition on conflict resolution on the L has evolved
to first exploring all means of settling disputes off-line before taking
it up on the L. This is due to a couple of reasons. 1) t he very
=0 A complicated set of rules and procedures governing complaint resolution
we developed many years ago requiring timely participation of all
members of the management team (some of whom) are not responsive, and 2)
that G-L should be and is a place for mature and descent=2 0people who are
guided by a good sense of camaraderie even when debating highly
contested political topics. I can say our 15yrs record is testament of
the fact that all but a handful have been very responsible in the way
they handle themselves.

I know for a fact that you have particularly suffered more than any
other member when it comes to personal attacks and insults. However, you
have demonstrated for us to see that it still possible to make ones
point without invectives and name calling. I hope Mr. Touray can and
all other members can learn from such grace.
