The
Senegalese capital, Dakar, recently hosted a
four-day symposium on the United States of Africa, organized by the Senegalese
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University
of Cheikh Anta Diop, in
collaboration with CODESRIA
The
following themes were covered at the four-day event:
1.Federalism and
African union authority
2 Federalism, culture and national languages
3.Federalism, economic development and science
and technology
4..Federalism, Diaspora, civil societies and
the African people
5. Role and place of Africa
in the global governance
About
300 intellectuals, academics, researchers, from Africa
and the Diaspora, artists, civil society organizations and political
decision-makers attended the conference, held at Hotel Meridien from the 27th
to the 30th of July 2009.

Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Abdoulie
Janneh, who is at the level of U.N. Under-Secretary-General, also spoke at the opening
ceremony.
