Hi Bros Haruna, Nderry, & Yanks et all,

Happy bilated fasting month to everyone.

I concur that Darboe did good in these noted interviews. I think the credit goes to him entirely. This is what we expect them (our politicians) to do. Nonetheless, both myself and Baldeh are both humbled by your comments. It didn't come to our hearts that we were doing anything big, both I am convinced by what Darboe himself said that the online community in its entirity is doing good.

Within a short time, we shall bring in full Mr. Sallah's full enterview as well. We might as time permits, reach out to the others as well....so we can balance the coverage across.

Kind regards,
yj

That was an exquisite interview with Mr. Darboe by Gainako. A job well done Juan C. and Demba. I enjoyed it throughly. Thank you Yanks for sharing.
Haruna. No confetti. No fashinable propaganda. No high-falutin programmes of sovereignty (but implied). No connerie. Just the facts Ma'am.

Yero

I join you in commending Baldeh and the rest of
the Gainako editorial team, including yourself,
for allowing space on your widely read paper to
publish such a brilliant interview with Mr Darboe.

I hope many will have time to read it.

A lot has been said about Lawyer Darboe on this
forum, but I think your interview had given him the
opportunity to answer to all critics. Especially on
the issue of term limit of pres idency and his views
on the independence of the Gambian Judiciary.
Something that i had vehemently defended on
this forum.

Nonetheless, this is an interview worth reading,
as we wait for part 2 of the Freedomnewspaper
serialisation of the interview with my old man.

For that reason, I have attached the link to the
interview below:

The discussion is equally active in the links above...a continuation of engaging Lawyer Darboe.

If the public reaction is encouraging, we will summon Darboe for a follow-up interview.

I congratulate Baldeh and Darboe himself for their time especially this blessed month of fasting.

Regards,
Comrade.

Indeed Pasamba, since the government have cow all print media in the Gambia to speak for the opposition apart from foroyaa,
rallies and vigils should be the only alternatives. If a guy is arrested for no reason, people gather and hold vigils, rallies organise to highlight the plight of those people.
Those small steps will help boost people's interest in politics.
Gambians seems to care about politics only during electioneering, which more or less plays into Yahya and his government's hands.
A major problem for the opposition is financing their activities.
rallies cost money, fuel to travel and other=2 0expenses.
Most of the opposition leaders have low source of income and therefore cannot fund out of their pocket serious campaign to sensitise Gambians adequately.
Big businesses in the Gambia will hardly hire an opposition outfit for any case or consultation,
Yahya is breeding down their throats in penetrating every sector of the Gambian economy, you give the opportunity, you are squeezed out.
'Pakka nyari borr' our politics is, whether or where.

"Freedom Newspaper:  Will the UDP condone permit denials from now on?
Ousainou Darboe:  We will be sending letters to the police to say that we want to hold meetings in this place. If they grant us permit fine. If they do not, we will go ahead and hold our meetings. It is as simple as that.  "

I commend Ousainou and the UDP for this stance. Jammeh must be made to understand that the rights to free assembly and speech will not be violated with impunity. This is an important stand and I hope that we will continue to challenge this illegal regime more forcefully.

Bros Yanks, Suntou et al,

Pa Nderry Mbai won’t stop making me jealous. (: :  We were working on breaking our interview with Darboe before him. Thanks to the fasting month…I am crawling on the ground. ..ehh! Congrats to the interviewer and the interviewee! It will go a long way reviving our shattered hopes.

FYI, and our wide readership everywhere, Gainako has been on it for the past four days. We can now announce that our interview with Darboe is a success.  The tireless patriot Baldeh who coordinated it is working on the final review and we will get20it to our readers in no time.  Until then, we should all stay with Freedom for Darboe’s interview.

On a personal note, I enjoyed interviews with two people; Darboe and Halifa. The reason for that is simple. In the past, when I had one and one with them, I observed that they will help you shape the interviews as they are aware of what the readership wants to hear.  While Darboe will drag you to the legal terms like “indemnity”, Halifa will drag you to the sociological terms like “sovereignty.”

My advice to Gambians and their friends still remains the same. Let us use our common senses to determine the future for our destiny. Let us unite! Let us unite!! We cannot win this war divided.  As we brace for 2011, there are some questions that lingers over how we can peacefully get the ship of the state from a desperate tyrant and his pseudo-pillars.  We are beyond the debate to whether Jammeh is a dictator or not. We are beyond doubting whether he is an op pressor or not. We are beyond  doubting whether he is a criminal ruler or not. So what we got to have is a strategy of unity. If we have to win this war, we must seek to unite. Unity will defeat the enemy and win over all vices that keep threatening our existence.  If unity fails, the emergence of fighting forces is unstoppable because the oppression is beyond bearable point.  We cannot afford to have the “snack” sound on the biscuit just now. Therefore, my brothers and sisters everywhere, let us do away with interest groups and political affiliations for the bigger national interest –let us whole-heartedly come to the table and pave the way forward.

I wish all Muslims a blessed fasting month, and I know the Sarahulles, the Serers and the Kabunkas won't stop trying to kill the sun with a gun at mid-day, for we have seen it happen before. (: :  For all those that believe with certainty that this is a cause worth fighting for like Baldeh do, I give you my words of courage.  Sometimes it is beautiful if you are just an observer and enjoy the show; hence there are thousands of Gambians online.  I n my prior write-up, “ A letter to Gambians & friends” is a living afo retime warning and before its ink dried up, Jammeh succeeded in jailing Uncle Sam and five other journalists with the help of the mercenary judges who hailed from Nigeria.

With kind love,
Comrade.

I am=2 0very proud of my old man!

I feel vindicated by his interview as it proved that my old man
aint scared of the "Waramba man with the sword"!

Compliments to Pa Nderry for conducting the interview.

I urge Yero to arrange a similar interview for Gainako readers. Though
the Freedomnewpaper's serialisation is not yet completed, but i doubt
if two part interview will be enough time for my old man to state all that
he would have stated, had he not been denied interviews by the GRTS, Daily
Observer, Foroyaa, point for the past 4 years.

My father is certainly no coward!

One have to appreciate the interview by Pa Mbye of Ousainou. Darboe it seems is willing to engage the media but for whatever reason was slow to utter some very significant statements.

This is a welcome initiative. Pa Nderry did well. I hope the interview dwell more on the ways to strategise voters participation in Gambian politics. without them, all the talks, the rallies will bear little fruit.
I would although wish to see the freedom editor squeeze Darbo more on opposition unity and how to overcome the love lost and individualist me me politics. Darbo has demonstrated an awareness of the flaws with Gambian politics, which is only the beginning. The real obstacle is how to design ways in overcoming those impediments.
Darbo should also engage the UDP media wing more on dialoqu-ing with all interest parties in the Gambian political landscape.
The age limit aspect was well answered, now it is hope that, term limits aspect comes into the discussion. If the constitution can limit the age of Gambians, why then did it left out the term limit which is much more important?
Darbo also made clear the strategy of UDP in terms of the candidate to contest as leader. This is a significant information. Thanks Nderry for the chance to hear more from Ousainou
