Haruna, I need 7 if laws permit me. For Tamba's whereabouts I think the reporters said it all; he's resting in Sintet after his release from Denmark!!!

My sentiments exactly Solo. I think Cousin Alieu, wait a minute how is he my cousin?? Anyway I think Alieu over-reacted and sentimentally. Sentiment that may not necessarily have anything to do with Tamba, Yahya, planes on fire, and landing and take-off. We must be discerning how we challenge others Alieu. I was shocked when I read you calling Gainako liars and you share a littany of historical negligence which20seemed to me to be mirages of negligence. Reprimands come from friends, not enemies. I love you Alieu. And I love Senegambianews. I also love Gainako. I just value sobriety more.

Hello editor,
Well the observation is well taken. I think part of the problem is my mistake. My first informant told me the plane has taken off which i wrote only to learn later from a more reliable informant that the plane did not actually take off. So the mistake on my side is that i edit the part that says the plane20has taken off and forgot to edit out that the rets of the sentence dealing with landing.
Now the issue of Tamba in Denmark as far as i am concerned is still correct. What has happen ed is that Tamba was in Denmark but came back on Wednesday at the same time when Jammeh was visiting the Yundum Army Barracks. My information is that Tamba was informed at the airport of the presidents visit to the Barracks and he decided to go straight to the barracks to witness the visit. I have seen Tamba in the pictures and many people confirmed that. So what the attacker may not be aware off is that Tamba came directly from Denmark and went straight to Yundum.
Now with his arrest etc, i heard of it and made some enquiries but has not confirm that even though the rumour was very strong that they were arrested. This is why i did not write anything about his arrest. So the lesson is that when something comes which is sensational, it looks like many conflicting sources give conflicting information which needs to be confirmed. So the writer should just publish the source that is most credible to him/her since official sources are difficult to come by.
The most interesting thing about it all is the attackers assertion that gainako is rebutting their information. I think that is where he is wrong. Up to now i have not read what Senegambia has20written about the sackings. If gainako is plaigerising their stories, then we would not differed in facts. What he may not be aware of is that different reporters receive different information about a single event not because of them but because of the sources of their information. It is interesting because sometimes one may have the feeling that other papers are taking our stories because of the similarity in facts. But what is important is to take it in good fate that we are all trying to inform the public about an event which has just occured and not to see ourselves as competitors but as collaborators. So i have very clear information that Tamba was in Denmark. I also have clear information that he was at the Yundum camp as well. I also wrote that the plane
did not take off because i trusted the source who told me that than the one who said the plane took off.

Hi Modou et al,

Thanks though. Here is Solo's own reaction, copy-copy regarding the matter.

I hope this will settle us all now.

yj

Yero, don't be distracted from the good work yuo are doing. Tamba was in Denmark to attend the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Congress as the President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee. Whatever may not be correct in the report if any, is understandable in the circumstance we work as journalist in the Gambia. Even those on the ground find it very hard to very information.

Folks:

Who would take Gainako seriously? When senegambianews broke the news of Jammeh's trip cancellation to Paris due to plane's engine emitting smoke in midair, Gainako reported that the plane never tookoff. Surprisingly however, and in the same Gainako story, they said the pilot made an emergency landing! How can a plane land when it never took off? Please read their battered and bruised news here http:www.gainako.com

Again when senegambia said Lang tombong was removed and sent to jail, Gainako said he was in Denmark. Today they came back with a story that Lang Tombong is released from detention. One may ask - from where? Denmark?

Gainako should clarify and stop pirating other people's story because they lack credibility and the English that goes with good journalism.

Alieu.

Lamin et al,

Golf is sport for thinkers, strategist and tacticians, I guess. Its just you, the club, the ball and the terrain with the weather, no-one else to blame if you fail. Golf is one our biggest tourist a ttraction , I bet and will not go away that easily.

Interesting how people get promoted now in our armed forces: Saikou Seckan, for instance was instrumental in lying about the coup as it is rumored that he told Tamb a who phone his Ogre, in Mauritania. Ironic that few years ago, I visited Salieu Dem and Saikou Seckan and Seckan told that they have not slept the whole weekend, as they were arrested and tortured on lies of late Omar Ndure. I asked whether they will continue the service, and they were surprised by that question. I told them that I will not serve with soldiers who tortured me and will rather resign my commission. I will have allowed no-one to=2 0arrest me illegally in the first place much more endure torture! So both Tamba and Seckan were rewarded with General ranks, from major and lieutenant ranks, what a joke! Even a rebel army has better standards and regulations than ours. The standards and regulations are there, all right in the form of Terms and Conditions of Services and
the Armed Forces Regulations, but no one follows them. Trainings and exercises are no-existence, as anyone who organizes training, is always accused of military coups, as was seen in my own case. I remember in 1997 when Kalifa Bajinka was ADC to the Ogre, he calls me asking about coup plots anytime the late Vincent Jatta organizes training for 1 Infantry Battalion in Yundum. Usually=2 0 we speak Turkish but on those occasions, he always insist we speak English or Mandinka, most likely because the big ugly Ogre listens!

I believe though that our time has come, as the soldiers are disgruntled, hungry and t hey see no future because of the serious devaluation of the Dalasi and the lack of basic military standards. A private soldier earns less than the cost of a bag of rice and they are expected to work for two weeks on average, before a weekend break, with 2000 guard posts to man, all invented by the paranoid Ogre! That's slavery and they are expected to die for their country, if necessary! I came from East Timor and my company complaint of paying for accommoda tion, they do not have, as they are aske d to stay together, two in a room and pay as if they both have rooms. I had solved that problem and they wanted help again with the new recruits. I was starting Gambia University and could not help them out. I asked the company how they expected my help, even though its my duty, but they failed in their duties to protect the innocent unarmed school children! Almost
all except one blamed the Para military and told me some of them threatened to shoot the Para military back if they continue the firing at civilians, but they had no command!  Hence my belief that there is still good in Gambians, even the GAF and they will fight on the peopl e's side when called upon! Not even Gen. Masanneh Kinteh will prevent that!

It is this and the duty to my country and God, that holds me dear  to discipline forces. Until the country is out of the state of20war imposed on us by Yaya and his Casamance rebels, it is the duty of every Gambian and those duties vary and as a member of the reserves, I stay fit and tuned for that day my country needs us to kick the dictator out.

I will recommend to the next republic that you be our first AG, if they will listen! For we will need fiery, brave legal luminaries like yourself to ho ld government in checks and balances, I promise!

Ron,

Thanks for the golf news, I heard the Olympic victory for golf. By the way, I have the same problem getting other Africans to play golf20with me, I live near massive golf courses, West Scotland and none of my Africa n friends is interested in playing or even talking about it!
Maj. Gen. L. Tamba deserves this treatment after lying to the retired Colonel about the last coup that claimed a lot of lives and freedom. On the other hand Tamba is a nice guy, I met him in Turkey in 1992, where he was often bitter about Lt. Binneh Minteh and Musa Mboobs' extravagancy. Gen. Tamba is not capable of a coup if you ask me!
What is really confusing is the number of generals in that tiny army, of less than a full fledged battalion size. At least 5 generals were there, including my junior, Maj. Gen. Serign Modou Njie, who was a lieutenant when I left, less than 8 years ago. How rapid those promotions were achieved is mind bugling. Another observation is t he torpedoing of Brig. Gen. Masaneh Kinteh over Drammeh, who incidentally is a maj. gen. a rank higher than Kinteh's and now he is to be his junior's deputy! Only in Gambia Armed Forces!
Gen. Kinteh is a career soldier unlike any of his predecessors, a graduate of Sandhurst Military Academy, not political, so the soldiers will love and they do really respect him! If he is worth his salt, even though he cannot refuse the appointment, but can turn the armed forces into a true armed forces and hopefu lly will not be allowed to be arrested like an unarmed civilian, when the dictator20orders it.
The arrest and or the sacking of Gen. Omar Mbye(super Hoowa!), Demba Mbye and Capt.? Lamin Fatty cannot be based on any evidence, as those people are not capable of organising a coup! Maj. Bora Colley and not Badjie as reported by Echo is a really a non-entity, a secondary four graduate, who should not even be a sergeant, much more a senior army officer rank of Major! The same goes for Capt. Lamin Fatty. I pity the soldiers who serve under those ignorant untrained buffoons! Yaya Jammeh does not have a clue or any inclination to do our country any good. The only reason Bora Colley (my class or badge mate, who was  corporal when I saw  him last) was commissioned was because of his involvement with the Yaya's infamous murder squad! For him, no sympathy, only 'I did tell you so! ' and a court martial in the next republic.
Most soldiers in Gambia Armed Forces are decent folks contrary to popular perception and are bitter about the hijac king of the army by the Kanilai butcher and we should not be hard on all of them, but only those who go political or criminal!

I'm hoping you wanted to share Gen tamba's story with us. I didn't see anything . Please send again. Thanx. Haruna. Oh BTW, Golf is going to be part of the Olympic games from 2016 (Braseeeel) onward. I think baseball and something else was dropped. Also the President's Cup challenge is going on in San Fran. This is where a team of international players challenge a USA team for the cup. It is all about pride and20prestige because there are no cash prizes. Woods and Stricker have been paired by Freddie for the first two days so far. Check it out on the Golf Channel.

I'm glad you shared this about Islam Suntou. THEREFORE:

The Qur'An did NOT Prescribe gammies (whatever the permutation)
The Qur'An advises on lifestyles and aims to limit their debilitating affects.

And Because the Muslim's spiritual guide is the Qur'An, the Muslim is not advised on the number to gammy. The only reason the Qur'An even ventured into gammy and circumstance was because of widowers, orphans, children, and contagion.

I knew something will come out of this chatter. Haruna.

Your views Demba is not more enlighten than that our Maker. So in as much you disagree with it, your analogy is flaw as Islam did not recommend it for20after battles only. I will refer you the verses .
If you and I can't handle it, some m en can and besides, forward the solution to the surplus women if you may. Islam regulate the types of polgamy that was practised and it put a limit to it.

I think polygamy is a recipe to endless problems many of our men create for themselves. If you cannot handle the one woman you have in your household, how in the world can you handle two or three, four or six?. It is like being an alcoholic and adding hard drugs on to it.
ÃÆ9‚
The excuse that great men died in Battle s and therefore it was ok to take their wives is no20longer practical. If one woman cannot satisfy you no amount of women will satisfy you.

Its a false excuse to say it is religious or tradition. It is greed and self fulfilling20fantasies.  The victims are the innocent children who gets caught up in the fight.
